Mr Tang Yun Shing, the President, and Members of the Federation of the Chinese Societies (FCS) congratulate Mr Joseph Tsang Fan Hin TSANG MANG KIN, GOSK, after his two recent achievements:
On 11 January 2013 the former Minister of Arts and Culture, ex diplomat and minister-counselor, poet and writer in both English and French, was recognized for his outstanding contribution in promoting Chinese culture and values in the world: He obtained the Zhong Hua Zhi Guang or Lights of China Award, alongside other personalities of international reputation, like Mo Yan Nobel Prize Winner, or Tao Min basketball champion.
On Sunday 27th January last, the Summit of the African Union elected Mr Tsang Mang Kin as Eminent Person of African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM). Our compatriot was the candidate of the Mauritian Government to be the 9th member of APRM. Indeed it is a great honour and a great responsibility for a Mauritian citizen of this calibre to be part of the Mechanism. The objectives of the APRM are primarily “to foster the adoption by African Governments of policies, standards and practices that lead to political stability, high economic growth, sustainable development. APRM promotes good governance which ensures that corruption is minimized, the views of minorities are taken into consideration and vulnerable social groups are protected, etc.”
We all know that Mr Tsang Mang Kin is already a well-known figure in the Francophone world and in the Commonwealth countries. With the recent distinctions, he has now extended the range of his celebrity to the hundreds of millions of people in all regions of China and the countries of the African Continent.
Not only us, Members of the Federation and of the Chinese community but indeed all Mauritians can be justly proud of a citizen who is in this unique position where he focuses world attention on his country and helps promote understanding among nations on several continents.
Congratulations!
Tang Yun Shing, President and the Executive members of FCS
